I Had Gall Bladder Surgery Today!
Okay, so HERE is a fun update kids… I had gall bladder surgery today!

I started having a central pain in my upper stomach on Wednesday evening, but it was mild off and on so didn’t think anything of it. Then on Thursday I noticed it was a bit more accute but I had to leave work early to go to Court to follow-up & protest a traffic ticket from April (Unfortunately the Deputy Sheriff showed for court so my case was NOT dismissed and I elected to do Traffic School! Booo..!) Anyhow, when I got home in the afternoon, I was still feeling this growing pain in my upper stomach so basically stayed in bed the rest of the evening. Trying chicken noodle soup and saltine crackers didn’t help any.
Due to the growing pain by Thursday night I attempted several rounds to the bathroom in the hopes of just being able to throw up would relieve all the “pressure” I was feeling… but no, nothing. Getting worse and tossing and turning for another 6 hours lead me to call off sick on Friday before eventually falling asleep for about two hours before waking up, still in pain and agreeing that Lynn should take me to the Pomona Valley Hospital ER.
Well after about 3 hours in the ER and doing some ultrasounds and xrays they found gall stones. After consulting with the surgeon on duty I could be admitted to the hospital and he would arrange his schedule to have me bumped up for surgery at 7:30am on Saturday morning–which got bumped to about 9am but still better than being the last “in line”! Seeing this as the better alternative to coming home and still suffering all weekend and into next week till I could confirm a different surgeon’s availability, I got checked in from the ER about 8:30pm Friday night.
Sooooo… obviously I home and the surgery went fine. I guess I can now say I am one with the “original” Johnson clan as my dad, mom and sister ALREADY have had their gall bladders removed as well!!
Since I went through this whole process I thought it would be “F-U-N” to show what a gall bladder removal surgery looks like! Gee you really CAN find almost anything on YouTube nowadays, can’t you?!? LOL
Here is a “Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy” video from YouTube!
FYI – Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy means in layman’s terms: Removal of the gall bladder using keyhole surgery.
Here are some links to some gall bladder illustrations I found on Google:

So this is MY weekend and into the upcoming work week? How YOU doin’?!? LOL
