Our youngest guy, Garrett is turning 7 this week!
To celebrate we spent the day at Disneyland and California Adventure with Lynn’s parents, “Papa & Gigi” for the day… had a great time. Wasn’t too crowded and all the Holiday decorations were up. Afterwards we ate at Mimis Cafe up the street from Disneyland for dinner.
Garrett’s a cutie but a goofball… I think he gets it from his mother, no? LOL

I like this teacher.
A lesson that should be taught in all schools . . And colleges.
Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock, did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.
When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.
‘Ms. Cothren, where are our desks?’
She replied, ‘You can’t have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.’
They thought, ‘Well, maybe it’s our grades.’
‘No,’ she said.
‘Maybe it’s our behavior.’
She told them, ‘No, it’s not even your behavior.’
And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.
By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms.Cothren’s classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.
The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, ‘Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.’
At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.
Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.
Martha said, ‘You didn’t earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it’s up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don’t ever forget it.’
By the way, this is a true story.
Please consider passing this along so others won’t forget that the freedoms we have in this great country were earned by U. S. Veterans.
Freedom isn’t Free… We thank God for all of our Blessings in this great United States, and we thank all the sacrifices of the men and women who have died defending freedom.
Take the time today to thank a Vet and their families…
We appreciate all the men and women now serving at home and abroad in any of the U.S. Military branches!

Just found out about this “picture” of The Last Supper that is made out of 4,050 Rubik’s Cube cubes! Took the two artists 2 months to put this together…. Pretty amazing!
Here is a quick 30-second video showing some upclose shots of Jesus and his Disciples during The Last Supper…

The Steinkamp-Chamblin-Carlson-Johnson families are celebrating the life of Sally Louise (Chamblin) Steinkamp today…
Today, October 4th is the 10th anniversary since she passed away.
Sally’s parents, Keith & Louise Chamblin had lived in retirement up in central California residing in Templeton, Mt. Hermon, and Cambria, California.
Beside her parents, Sally had 2 brothers, Terry and Dion. Keith passed away December 2002 and Louise passed away November 2008.
Married to James Steinkamp for 33 years and the mother of two wonderful daughters, Lesley Louise and Lynn Catherine.
Grandmother of 5: Brian James, Nicholas James, Claire Louise, Mitchell Dale and Garrett Noah (who was born 3 years after she had passed).
Jim and Sally lived in southern Orange County for most of their lives between Irvine and then San Clemente. As a local resident Sally was involved in the daily lives of her family, her church and volunteering at the local hospital in San Clemente for many years. One of her many accomplishments was the restarting of the “Candy Stripping” program at San Clemente Hospital and of which Lynn started her “medical career” under.
Sally also showed a great love of flowers and creativity that she was able to express through her work at a local flower shop. Of course she made all the center pieces for Lynn & Jerold’s wedding–a cute plant with ceramic angel and a wicker heart display, wrapped in our colors.
Ray & Anne Ortlund, Ray & Nancy Otis, Glenn & Audrey Johnson, and Russ & Janet Landreth were among Jim & Sally’s closest group of friends. Friends that shared in the triumphs and trials of life together.
After many years of stuggling with lung disease and other health issues Sally passed away at home with her husband and daughter by her side. She went calmly and with peace into the presence of Jesus on October 4th, 1999. Shortly after she passed she was cremated and her ashes were spread with rose petals out on the Pacific Ocean not far from their home in San Clemente.
Its with loving memories that we remember our mother, wife, daughter, aunt, grandmother, and beloved friend!
Okay, so HERE is a fun update kids… I had gall bladder surgery today!

I started having a central pain in my upper stomach on Wednesday evening, but it was mild off and on so didn’t think anything of it. Then on Thursday I noticed it was a bit more accute but I had to leave work early to go to Court to follow-up & protest a traffic ticket from April (Unfortunately the Deputy Sheriff showed for court so my case was NOT dismissed and I elected to do Traffic School! Booo..!) Anyhow, when I got home in the afternoon, I was still feeling this growing pain in my upper stomach so basically stayed in bed the rest of the evening. Trying chicken noodle soup and saltine crackers didn’t help any.
Due to the growing pain by Thursday night I attempted several rounds to the bathroom in the hopes of just being able to throw up would relieve all the “pressure” I was feeling… but no, nothing. Getting worse and tossing and turning for another 6 hours lead me to call off sick on Friday before eventually falling asleep for about two hours before waking up, still in pain and agreeing that Lynn should take me to the Pomona Valley Hospital ER.
Well after about 3 hours in the ER and doing some ultrasounds and xrays they found gall stones. After consulting with the surgeon on duty I could be admitted to the hospital and he would arrange his schedule to have me bumped up for surgery at 7:30am on Saturday morning–which got bumped to about 9am but still better than being the last “in line”! Seeing this as the better alternative to coming home and still suffering all weekend and into next week till I could confirm a different surgeon’s availability, I got checked in from the ER about 8:30pm Friday night.
Sooooo… obviously I home and the surgery went fine. I guess I can now say I am one with the “original” Johnson clan as my dad, mom and sister ALREADY have had their gall bladders removed as well!!
Since I went through this whole process I thought it would be “F-U-N” to show what a gall bladder removal surgery looks like! Gee you really CAN find almost anything on YouTube nowadays, can’t you?!? LOL
Here is a “Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy” video from YouTube!
FYI – Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy means in layman’s terms: Removal of the gall bladder using keyhole surgery.
Here are some links to some gall bladder illustrations I found on Google:

So this is MY weekend and into the upcoming work week? How YOU doin’?!? LOL

Thank you Lord for your Blessings and your hand upon Jennifer & Emmerson during the entire pregnancy… your mercies are new every morning!
